Special Education Students Thrive at St. John Paul II Regional School
Vincent has been part of the St. John Paul II Regional School family since Kindergarten. He’s a special education student attending math and language arts classes in our Learning Center. Our Learning Center offers additional support for 18 special education students in Grades K – 8 . Every student in our Learning Center is empowered to reach their full potential – academically, spiritually, and socially. It’s an inclusive program that enables us to provide a Catholic education to students at all academic levels.
We invest in technology, classroom materials, and professional development to help students grow in self-confidence and develop the necessary skills for ongoing success. Vincent is a testament to our special education program. Collaboration with parents, like Vincent’s parents, is also an important ingredient for success.
Vincent shares, “Mr. Miller has helped me a lot and given me strategies when the work can sometimes be hard.” Teaching strategies that work for the student is our focus. Working with each student to meet their individual needs helps them to become more independent as they approach high school and college.
In our Learning Center, we want students to feel proud of their accomplishments and develop a love for learning that they can take with them to other areas. “When I first went to Mr. Miller, I really wasn’t any good in Math and Language Arts. Mr. Miller is a great teacher who helped me to become better at these subjects. I also like Social Studies and learning about history.” Vincent Martinelli.
Especially now, during the pandemic, many parents worry if their child is receiving the special education resources, he/she needs. If you’re concerned about your child’s education, Principal, Helen Persing, is happy to discuss your child’s plan and determine what’s best for your child. Please reach out to Helen Persing at email@example.com to schedule a time to meet or learn more about our Learning Center.
St. John Paul II Regional School is safely providing in-person learning for our K-8 students this year, which we believe works best. We see the outcomes not only in test scores, but also in how students see themselves in a positive way. We know Vincent will thrive in high-school and we’re proud of his hard work over the years bringing him to his graduating year this year.
St. John Paul II is a great school and is my second family! Vincent Martinelli
